Middle Tennessee FIRE Soccer

MIDDLE TN FIRE SOCCER has a long, rich history behind it’s name. In 1999, a man by the name of Mike Costello had high school age sons that played on a club team with their friends during the Fall soccer season.  His sons, and their friends, were homeschooled and wanted to continue playing soccer in the Spring, but at that time TSSAA would not allow homeschool students to play sports for their local school.

Because of Mr. Costello's desire for his sons, their friends and the love for the homeschool community and soccer, he helped establish MIDDLE TN FIRE SOCCER.

MIDDLE TN FIRE SOCCER was created to be a competitive, Christ-centered homeschool soccer team for high school boys, to play against public and private high schools in the Greater Nashville area.  FIRE started out with one team, but quickly gained popularity over the years throughout the homeschool community which led to a second team being added and then in 2015, a Middle School team was added.

 

MIDDLE TN FIRE SOCCER maintained a Middle School, JV, and Varsity team until 2020.  Just as COVID affected the world, it also greatly affected team sports in the school system, it also affected our team.  We started rebuilding our team in 2021 with a JV team, with hopes of rebuilding our Varsity and Middle School team in the near future.

MIDDLE TN FIRE SOCCER has had more than 50 players go on to play soccer on the college level and several went on to play professionally on MLS teams.  We are proud of every young man that has been a part of the FIRE soccer team.

MIDDLE TN FIRE SOCCER has won many championships in 24 years, here are a few:

 

2006

FIRE was undefeated!!!!

We beat 3 school teams that became State Champions in their TSSAA divisions.  We should have gone on to play in the TN State Championships, however the TSSAA would not allow FIRE to play because we were a “homeschool team”.

2012

FIRE was undefeated!!!!

We were the Tournament of Champions-Silver Division 1st place winner.  We should have gone on to play in the State Championships, yet again, the TSSAA would not allow FIRE to play because we were a “homeschool team”.

 

2014

FIRE was undefeated!!!
